I was just turned on to this soulful, raspy singer by a good friend and I thought it only fair to share.   Her name is Sia Song and the song I…

Suite 408.

By | blog | No Comments
I am going to pick up my mother-in-law at the doctor’s office.  I was here just a few hours earlier so I know I’m going to Suite 408.  I really don’t want to be late as she is not the most patient person in the world.  At the doctors’ building the doors open to an empty elevator.  I walk through and push the red button for floor number four. “Ding,” the elevator sounds.  I hurry off and take a look around. I was just here three hours ago and yet the grey walls and tan carpet look only vaguely familiar.  I think I was supposed to make a right turn at the end of the hallway; maybe that is why Suite 408 is not here.  This is so strange, heading down the right side of the hallway is even numbered suites and heading down the left seems to be odd.  Yet, I still can’t find Suite 408. So where am I?  I feel out of sorts, could I be lost?  I know this is the correct building.  I am sure of this because I just paid another $8.00 for parking in the same garage as when I dropped her off...

My Grass Isn’t Perfect.

By | blog | No Comments
I’m outside, at 4:20 p.m. staring at the grass in the side yard, where the dogs go poop two or three times a day. Gazing down, I see weeds; long, wide and deep weeds; small flower like weeds that look like a five or six leaf clover; skinny, wavy weeds; and shit. Dog shit is all around me. I search for the pooper-scooper, just sitting on the side by the trash cans, filthy with dried poop, waiting for me to pick it up. I do. I start with a shovel and lay it on a smooth wedge of lawn and rake in the poop. I am on a on a mission. I begin to count each mound of dog shit. Two, three, four, and then twelve! Twelve piles of dog shit because my dogs are constantly pooping! My grass is not perfect.   I wish my grass were perfect. I wish my life were perfect. I try to close my eyes to imagine a perfect lawn and perfectly trimmed bushes, mixed with fresh gardenias and magnolias. With massive trees behind the green-vined wall and a huge, blue sky filled with funny shaped, white clouds. I want white clouds and blue...

It’s springtime. Passover begins today and Easter is on Sunday.     As I drove through downtown, Los Angeles, I saw the homeless, living from over-loaded shopping baskets under the tunnels. Big green bags filled with tattered personal belongings. People with newspaper…

Why Do I Always Have To Clean The Dog’s Ass?

By | blog | No Comments
Sometimes in life you just have to do things that you really, really don’t want to do. For me, I made this great discovery today. Either you do it happily or you do it pissed off. It’s really our choice. So, here it is. Why do I always have to clean the dog’s ass? It’s my Lhasa Apsa  that stinks this time. Both my husband and son are pleading for me clean his butt. “Mom, please clean him.” I try to ignore my son. “Stacey!  Stacey!”  This is how he refers to me when he’s trying to be serious. However, now it sounds as though the tone is a plea for mercy. I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to clean the shit from the dog’s ass. I’m refusing to do it. “NOOOOO.” I begin to laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Again, “Mom, Mom, it smells sooo bad! Please.” Why me, I wonder? Why do I have to do it? I always have to do this kind of thing.” There’s been an awful odor lingering around the house for about 24 hours now. I tried to ignore it last night. At first I thought it was my...
